interesting, Curly Ogden actually started that game for WA and pitched 1/3 of an inning, allowing a walk and fanning a batter for the only out.
Wonder why he came out? In watching this video (thx for posting), it makes it seem as if George Mogridge started for WA, but the pitcher they're showing as Mogridge is throwing right handed. Old George was a lefty as we all know from playing SIM.

In looking at the box score further, the old War Horse Big Train really did pitch well. Threw the final 4 innings; 3 hits, 3 BB, 5 k's and no runs to close out the game. .

If memory serves the Reds did something like this against the Pirates in the 1990 NLCS... with Ted Power maybe?

And Dick Howser outmaneuvered Bobby Cox with a related set of moves in the 1985 ALCS.

In this era of 13-man pitched staffs and thin benches, no one really platoons anymore, which may render the strategy moot.
