It depends.....the three big strategy is harder to pull off but you can certainly win REB's and if he is a scorer dominate the smaller guard.....  the smaller, guard like guy can create more turnovers and score from the perimeter against slower defenders.....the smaller guard option is what I usually do becuase it is easier.

Definitely depends on what sets you run. It can be advantageous to run three guards in the press, but it in the zone you typically have more flexibility with the type of player you can put at the three. Man to man is obviously more reliant on your opponent and the optimal lineup might change from game to game.

I'm gonna be this kind of weenie right now: it's "versus", not "verse".

I will offer another perspective. It depends greatly on what your weaknesses and the rest of your lineup or whether you need more rebounding more passing more ballhandling perimeter shooting or what. Can't answer that question without the rest of the lineup.

My biggest weakness is shooting, especially perimeter or FT, however I have no per shooters, best is 57 and even with high spd and -1 he doesn't shoot well.  The PF playing SF is my highest scorer, but has only 11 pas so I guess I'm sort of weak at passing to.

It's my La Grange team btw ab, but I was wondering overall, not just specific to this team.

Basically my question is when a PF is playing a SG who has the advantage on offense/defense, as generally PF's have the Ath/Reb while SG has the Spd.  Does the engine favor the higher spd, or the higher ath reb?  Who is more prone to fouling out quicker?

Reread what aintheb shared. The engine doesn't just favor a certain player as if the two players being compared are playing in a vacuum. The player that will hep your team most is the one that best fills your needs. If you have poor rebounding bigs, a SF with good rebounding might make sense, whereas if you lack scorers or shooters in your starting lineup, a SF that can really let it rain from behind the arc might be your best bet.

Your team is a gestalt not a collection of individual players, and because of the many types of players that can be successful at small forward its a great place to compensate for weaknesses in the rest of your lineup. Your center and power forward a bit weak in the rebounding department? Stick a beefy rebounder in there. Don't have much perimeter shooting? Stick in a guard with more perimeter shooting. Then also look at the opponents starter. If he starts a slow guy with defending problems an ace three shooter might be excellent there for that game, etcetera.
