Players Not Maxing Out Topic

So Ive played a lot of seasons of HD and I have always been fine with getting players to max out. I typically don't recruit guys with less than 40 WE and I put 25 minutes into my offense and defense when I run a FB/Press. But for some reason my seniors have still not hit their maxes. guess it's a good thing they can still grow, but normally at this point they would be fully developed. What might be the reason for this? Was there any new updates that slowed development or something I haven't seen?

Team practice does not help improve individual categories. No updates. Individual skill development always slows as it reaches the cap. The only thing you can do is reassign minutes from categories that have tapped out to ones that haven't. That is, except lowering team practice minutes and increasing individual practice, minimizing study hall minutes, & applying redshirts appropriately.

I suppose a followup question is: how are you determining the player's "max"? The coach message apparently is sent randomly when a player is within at most 2 or 3 points of the category cap. Meaning that the point at which you receive a coach note about being "tapped out" is slightly inconsistent. The color changes on the ratings are accurate blue-to-black=21 & black-to-red=7.

Dunno whether that helps.

I'm aware of all that, I was just wondering. Normally all my senior are at red, but not this time around.

My guys were slow developing this yr. my SR PF went up 8 this yr in LP. He could have hit 99 but only reach 92 black. I had 20 in LP from start of season with his 60ish WE. I think it's stupid he only went up 8 with that WE and starting every game. I just think the enegine isn't consistent.

looking at your roster you had a few seniors with 30-40 WE to begin with and that they were either blue/black in a lot of areas, for me at least I would'nt expect those players to max out every single category, but rather their cores, and then once so I'd expect guards with reb/lp to start to focus their.  It does seem very inconsistent though, I had a guard on my team in Knight blue in LP and 55 WE finished 64 WE only go up 9 with 17 minutes .  He finished with blacks in reb/lp,sta,FT but came in 35 WE Blue in spd, reb, def,lp,per,bh,pas, sta and black in ath/FT only red was dur.  Freshmen year played every game 16mpg and from sophmore year started every game but 2.

I think 11 of 12 players started with 40+ we. I also only put 20 in off and def and still havent been tapping out cores at times

Can you paste a copy of your practice plan?....If so we might be able to figure out if you are allocating minutes optimally.

I don't know about him, but I usually don't give many minutes to guys who have Red attributes.  If a guy goes Red, I leave him where he is for 1 or 2 more points then take him down to at least 3 (LP or PE) or 7 (everything else) soon after.  If I get the "Maxed Out" letter, I take him down lower than 7 (5 or 4 .. depending on WE) or 3 (for PE and LP .. to 2 or 1 depending on WE).  I then put any excess Minutes in areas that are Black or Blue.

If someone gets all Red .. I usually go to 12 for all but PE / LP and 6 for PE / LP and all the rest get split up (usually 3 or 4 more points to distribute)

I usually drop guys to 1 when they go red in noncores.   I drop the stat to zero when I get the maxed out letter.

For example, Marty Johnson from my U of Sciences team in Rupp,

When his BH turns Red, I will go 1 or 2 more points, then shift from 31 to 7 .. and add points to either LP, FW, or C.

Likely I would add some to all 3 if they are still White.

Some notes:

1.  I hardly ever go lower than 8 in FT until I get the Maxed Out message

2.  I almost always have 1 in SH no matter what.

3.  For Attributes that start less than 10 in off Areas (like REB or BLK or possibly LP for Guards) .. I will put 0 in there from the beginning and not care about it.  If those Attributes are greater than  10, I would likely put 4-5 (1 or 2 for PEr / LP) minutes in there to maintain them.

Hughes, you and are polar opposites!

1. I dump FT all the time unless I consider the guy an inside scorer.   If a guy comes in RED at FT, I go 1 almost automatically.   I usually don't get above 7 until they are red in all other cores.

2. I go ZERO in SH after the freshman year.  I only adjust after the yellow line.

3. I very rarely go above 20 in any skill.
