Guys,

I was C-, I went 25-5, made the NT, lost in the first round, won the CT, won the Conference, was coach of the year. Yet, my team prestige only got to C.

Is it because the base prestige of my team is D? Let say I was on a base prestige team of C, was it going to be the same leap? C- to C?

Every season, it's decision time. But I am really disappointed I am not C+. I was sure I was going to be C+.

I think so, if your baseline was a C you would probably be a C+/B- with back to back NT appearances.

At Princeton, I got to the 2nd round in my first NT appearance and jumped to a C+, the next season I made the NT and lost and went to a B-......I made the NT about 7 seasons in a row without ever winning  a game again and stayed at a B-

Looking at your team history, I think were on the lower side of C- and are probably on the higher side of C right now.  With another 25-win season and trip to the NT next year, I think it's conceivable you get to B-, but you may just get to high C+.

If your goal is to get to a big 6 job as soon as possible, leaving doesn't make sense at this point.  You'd likely have to go back to a D prestige mid-major and start from scratch all over again.  Winning a NT game will also accelerate your progress to a big 6 job and since you play in a conference with all sims (which kills your RPI and SOS), your noncon scheduling becomes 10x more important for you to try and get the best seed possible.

edit: was typing this out while darnoc replied. I agree with him. leaving now would be a mistake if your goal is to get a big 6 job, just as people advised you after last season.

looking at the histories of my MWC teams: with C baseline, you'd probably get to C+ with back to back NTs. but maybe not given everything that factors in there. you also have to figure you had a losing season just 2 seasons back. plus, despite the gaudy win totals, your RPI (thanks to very low SOS) is pretty mediocre. not trying to say anything bad about your team, just further explanation for the slower prestige climb.

the upshot is that i don't think there's much of a discernible difference recruiting with C+ or C, it's pretty insubstantial.

In DI, prestige updates work a little differently. We look at the past 4 seasons and put a different weighting on each season. Basically, the further back the season is, the less weight it gets, and the less impact it has on the current prestige. Each season's success is based on the following items:

  • RPI Rank
  • WIS rank (the system used for the Top 25 rankings)
  • Whether the team was conference champion
  • Whether the team made the PIT
  • PIT wins
  • Whether the team made the National Tournament
  • National Tournament wins
  • Whether the team won the National Championship

I know guys, but being alone in this division, Rolled is not renewing, it's pretty damn boring. It's like there is no competition. I can't wait to get out of there and I have trouble enjoying it. I want to go to the big Six but seeing how slow the two teams left are dropping in prestige, it could take forever.

It's good to know C and C+ don't make a big difference come recruiting time.

It sucks to be alone but it means you should make the NT every year which all but guarantees you a BCS job in not too long

I got all teams offered from C to D- and I am longshot at the C St-Bonaventure, A-10.

being alone in a conference sucks. having no competition sucks. people told you that before you took that IUPUI job but you took it anyway

now people are telling you that moving to another low range mid-major is a bad idea...but you're gonna move anyway
