I promised a start to a guy. Started him all but 5 games with 3 games left. After this last game he got mad, WE dropped. If I start him the last 3 games will his WE go back up? Do I need to start him in the CT? Or NT?

I don't think you need to start him in the CT. But you do need to start him all season, except maybe 3 to 5 games. When I get caught during recruiting, I often promise a guaranteed start and it never backfires. I keep the player on the starting lineup unless I play a tough team. Its WE won't get back to what it was, not enough time. But you will stop it to drop.

Promised starts are valid until players stop growing - meaning until but not including the CT championship game.

Thank you. Winning that game wasn't worth the WE hit, but oh well.

That is not accurate.  Promises only operate through the regular season.   The conference tourney is irrelevant, except that his WE will begin to recover if you keep playing him through the CT.

Here is a link to a post in another thread concerning the ratio requirement.  If you are talking about Duvall, the problem is that his ratio of starts dipped below 80% during the regular season (i.e. 18/23 = 78.2%).   You can bring him up to 21 of 26 (back north of 80%) and I believe that he will recover back some of the loss, but probably not all of it.

I agree with rogelio on this!

i recently had this happen where i got the complaint email with maybe one game lef tin the regular season.  I normally assume that there is no need to start these promised kids in the CT,  but i did this time to see if I could get the lost points back.  I did star tthem in CT and they did get all thier points back and sent me a text saying they were glad i kept my promise.

normally the key is,  as rogelio said, keeping the start ratio above 80%,,, if you do that through the regular season, then you wont need to start them in the NT or CT.

Im not sure if i ever tried starting them 20 out of 25 and then not starting them in the 26th game.   that would let them fall below 80%, but would they complain since regular season would then be done?

you aren't required to honor promised starts in the CT or postseason, however if the player DOES start after complaining about the lack of starts those subsequent starts will count toward clearing the slight.

I've been told (and experience seems to confirm) that the player compares the actions from the initial email to when the followup goes out in a few days to determine how to respond to failed promises.

So if you sit him a few games and get a message complaining (with a corresponding WE drop) then start him the next 3 or 4 games or whatever it is, you will get a follow up where he thanks you for honoring your word or whatever and the WE loss will go away. Those games CAN be CT games for certain...
