i actually think target minutes works pretty well... its just that press suits target minutes terribly. 24-28 is too high for press, i mean, you should never run minutes with press, but if you do, 24-28 is still too high (except MAYBE for 90s sta guys).
edit: actually maybe 24-28 could work it just depends on your setup. im not sure would have to play around with it. instinctively it sounds too high for a 78 sta guy which is not very good for a press starter, but maybe you could make it work. the problem is if it was fairly fresh there's no way the guy plays in the higher end of that scale, 26-28, hes bound to get tired. you might be able to get by at 24 but you are still going to at least be getting tired. just the way press is. the bottom line is minutes doesn't work well with extreme fouling or fatigue and press has both. i've tried it and it goes as you would expect - very badly. so i think its more about press not being suitable for minutes than it is about 24-28 being too high, even though that may be the case...
