Should we learn a second defense Topic

My Centenary team runs flex and press.  This season we are senior heavy.  Six guys will graduate.  At the start of the season, we have eight guys who are A- or better in press.  Nifty.

I'm really worried about next season.  Running press with six returnees looms.  I'm thinking of moving some minutes into man or zone so that at the start of next season we'll have the option of running a combo defense to conserve stamina until new guys learn to play.  Probably man since we have nice DEF ratings.

Any views on this choice?  Usuaully, I think learning a second defense is a wasteful use of practice time, but this may be a situation where it makes sense?

I've never ran a mixed defense, but in this case I like the idea since you guys are already so strong in press for this year. Would you just temporarily learn man or switch permanently? I think permanently might be a good call in this situation, unless you think press is good long-term for your program.

I would do zone......I run a zone press combo on some of my press teams when i screw up in recruiting.....it gives my starters about 4 more minutes a game.
