why is it assumed, that during years where getting caught stealing good players were out at an extraordinary rate? ,,,who threw ty cobb out 60 times, and why was max carrey caught 40 times, then twice the next season?

This has been a subject of repeated debate here.  Search some of the discussions here in the Forum for more detail, but basically there is no SB data for the years in question so WIS made up the CS stats.

there are stats for stolen bases each year but for random seasons there are no caught stealing data..that part is made up by wis...hopefully the extropolation/ guesswork is sensible.
