I never got any longshot jobs. I always apply to longshots on the first day, and I get rejected right away. I do this just to see if it can actually happen.

I need someone to tell me : hey I got a longshot job.

What al means is that Dairy Queen was a longshot job for him, but he applied and miraculously got it. So hey, al got a longshot job.
