Permanent loss of potential Topic

I had a guy who last season got to 100 in perimeter.  In off season, he dropped to 99

He has now maxed out in all categories, so I have been giving him 30 minutes of PER to see if he can get that point back.  Doesnt seem to be happening.

I dont follow potentials in enough detail to know whether this sort of permanent loss of potential is routine.  Does this happen?

Seems to happen most frequently in Stamina, maybe because that tends to fluctuate more in offseason? but yeah, somehow when something maxxes then drops back slightly a lot of the time they never get back to that max by a point or two.

Query: Did he improve to 100 or did he get there during the offseason?  What's his WE?

The glitch is that offseason ratings losses aren't coupled with a reset of the improvement rate in that category.  The game was designed to have growth very slow at the extreme ends of either the scale or, once potential was added, the player's potential in that category.  Offseason losses don't seem to reset the rate.  This ends up most apparent in Stamina (like dacj said).

For instance, with a cap of 90 and a current rating of 70 a player might improve 1 pt for every 100 minutes of practice (pulling numbers out of my butt).  It was intended, once the current rating is 88 (still with a cap of 90), that the growth rate will slow to 1 pt for every 200 minutes of practice.  However, when that same recruit loses 3 points in the offseason (down to 85), the growth rate remains at the 1 pt/200 rate, but should have increased to, say, a 1 pt/ 150 minute rate with 5 points of remaining potential.

That's my understanding anyhow.   From my limited knowledge of programming, this might not be hard to fix, but risks being a nightmare to debug.  You should just jack up his PER minutes to 50 or 60 and see what happens (if everything else is at the cap).

He had improved to 100 during the season and then went down to 99 in offseason.  I've now for about ten days been pumping 40+ minutes into that category....I suppose it doesnt really matter.

i think the part about a player starting with a maxed rating, losing some, and not having his rate reset, is for players who start maxed. i don't think that applies to players who get maxed, and then drop from there, but i could be wrong. the rate of improvement with 1 point or less than 1 point of growth left is REALLY slow, its really hard to get that point in the regular season (you may see an increase from like 96.9-> 97.1 and see the point and get the mail but i doubt you could go from 96.1->97.1 to max out in one regular season)

i could be wrong about all of this though...

My guy's rating history is consistent with what y'all are saying, I think.  He's below his highs in PER, REB and STAM

No offense, it's 1 point and it's the difference between a 99 and a 100...NBD if you ask me

agreed colonel - as noted earlier in the thread, I suppose it doesnt really matter

but, I was curious how the maximum seems to have moved down in three categories.  Answer folks provided fits with the data.
