One of the ways I get my starting line up some rest, is that I'll play a bench player instead if he is from the visiting state.  That way he can play in front of his friends and family.

A lot of these are fantastic.

Being north of the boarder, I'll try a little bit harder to get players from Canada in the draft or via trade especially if it's been a city I've been to or lived in.

hahaha that's great. 

Mine is lame now -- I just use the notes to give nicknames or special skills.  For example, Marcus Darwin is "still evolving".   Luther Houston has a problem.  Stubby Mays who hails from Vegas taught the team how to count cards.   And Wladimer Ortiz speaks of himself in third person while pronouncing his last name with a long "I" sound.
