Is the general rule 21 games or 21 days to prolong the arbitration clock? Basically, if I wait until the 2nd month, will I be ok?

To be safe, I always wait until 20 games have been played in the Big Leagues.

It's 20 days after the minor league season has started.

My rule of thumb: if your minor league season starts with the AM game on a Wednesday, wait until after the AM game on the following Wednesday.  It's an extra HBD day or two, but it removes the counting from the equation.
