Some comments on the rankings. Tournament finishes have the biggest impact on your ranking, and more weight is placed on the more recent finishes. If you've played in fewer than 3 WIS Championships, then your history (win%, playoff%, championships) will factor into the formula. If you have zero tournaments played, then your history has a much greater weight, although there is some regression analysis done to estimate what your tournament results would have been had you played in previous tournaments.
Your most recent tournament performance gets the most weight, regardless of how long ago it was (see ballantine).
Also, you can't compare last year's ranking to this year's ranking and assume it's going to go in the direction you anticipate. For example, bardin was ranked 12th last year, finished 8th in the tournament and his ranking dropped to 14th. His ranking "score" improved 20%, but others improved more and he got passed (jbohrman & jmissirlis). Also, a couple of people who didn't play last year are ranked higher (mensu1954 & ArlenWilliam).
