Scoring from first on a ground rule double Topic

Here is the play by play explanation of how my game ended last night. With a runner on first, "Champ Summers hits a ground rule double down the right field line. R. Carew's throw is up the first base line and D. Collins scores. It won me the game, but I was intrigued that there would be a relay throw on a ground rule double. Is this a glitch?

Sounds like a display error.

The event-tree never calls for a ground-rule double, it's just a type of double. It knows Summers hits a double, then picks from a list of different "double" texts. SIM might not realize the rules for ground-rule quite right.

Feel free to send in a ticket. Don't know if they'll do much about it. (Could suggest eliminating ground-rule doubles with runners on 1st as a temp fix.)

how about an honest to goodness update? Enough little fixes.  I've stopped playing after 10 years.

The password alert sitemail they sent out earlier this month said "Game updates will be announced in the coming weeks!"

Whether that means 6-10 weeks or 500 weeks, I'm not sure. But I'm hopeful.

Weren't balls that bounced over a fence at 1 time home runs???

How would sim handle that??

Poorly.

a ground rule double is open to the umpires discretion,,, as to how many bases existing runners may get,, but this sounds like an error in judgement,,,

and yes, ml, in the pre ww1 era balls bounced over the fence were considered homeruns,,,

I am not up to date on rules changes, but I think a ground rule double is only up to umpire's discretion if it involves fan interference. If it bounces over the wall I think it is two bases for every runner. In any case, here we had the outfielder throwing the ball home to try to get the runner out, which is impossible for any ground rule double. It wouldn't be hard to insert a two base advance for any ground rule double. I think even wis can handle that.

Closer to 500 would be a good bet....

The SIM is vindicated!

great point, unless interference is discussed, or artificial obstruction occurs(6.09,,ithink) no contact with a defensive player, taking into account individual playing field rules,,each baserunner shall be awarded two bases

if your on second,or betterm, you score, on first, you don't, barring very strange circumstances
