concept B is much more along the lines of what I'd be interested in playing. The main problem that I see with that particular concept is that there aren't 96 seasons in the database to choose from (24 owners x 4 exclusive seasons each = 96).  There's not even enough seasons to do 3 seasons exclusively per owner.

Why not just make it so that an owner has to:

1) use a predetermined number of seasons to make their team (2, 3, 4, or 6)
2) use an equal number of players from each season (so 6x2, 4x3, 3x4, 2x6)
3) Each season must be from a different decade

no clones, rookies or ww
no exclusive seasons or players

if you're deadset on doing a draft of years, then you could split it up by conference.  12 teams from the east have a separate team than the 12 teams in the west.  That way, there will be a maximum of 2 of the same season in the league, and the teams will only play each other twice unless they meet in the finals.  We've done this sort of thing before, except we drafted players, not years (the original DDL - Double Draft League), and it worked out really, really well.

But unless you just really, really want the season exclusiveness factor, I'd say forgo a draft and just open it up with something similar to what I posted above.  Drafts are fun, but they slow things down immensely.

dual conferences would work . . . ~50 seasons is a good spread (page 1 updated)

I'm interested, but my one thing is the cap.  Each season brings it's own challenges.  If you have 61-62 you get killer versions of Wilt, Oscar, West, and Russell.  The problem is the lack of assists, efficiency, and too much usage.  Take 14-15 and you lack a monster in the middle like you would with Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Robinson, and (to a lesser extent) Dream.

remember that you have four seasons to work with, and exactly 3 players from each

how you balance your allocations across these is one of the challenges
