Recruit Generation/ Player Development Topic

Something needs to be done about recruit generation. I am currently recruiting at D1 right now, and it's hell for low end teams. Nothing to pick, nothing to get. It's hell.

I would only add that it's not factual to say seble doesn't play HD. He does play.  He currently has a team in Phelan and one in Knight and has played the game for some time.  His teams aren't world beaters but I don't think they can be either because it would raise a lot of eyebrows and complaints if the site admin was fielding teams that were competing for the title every season since he obviously has insights into the inner workings of the game that others don't. But I would imagine that the primary reason he plays is to make sure he has the context of how the game plays out from the users perspective and isn't just making uninformed decisions.
he plays but his teams are ****. every coach in this game strives to at least be competitive - he doesn't - or else he just really sucks. old admin had one of the best programs in d2 tark and i was in d2 tark at the time. i can't recall one single complaint ever, but heard many people comment on being glad he was there. but i get your point - im not saying he should be setting records for best program and stuff - but he should have some idea what its like to play an A prestige program and make the NT regularly. he has no clue. how can he possibly relate to the experience of d1 at all - people trying to move up - people struggling in low bcs - people fighting for recruits on an A+ and dealing with EEs. he has absolutely 0 experience in any of that. so yeah, he signs some junk players nobody else wants... competes with nobody for anything... really great context hes getting there!

in short, this game is trying to get the best players you can, and trying to make the most of them. that is the universal coaching experience, although there are many variations within. he doesn't even hit that basic universal experience. i guess i have to give him one thing though - he probably has a decent idea how SIMAI feels!

Do you think users would be happy if Seble took over a high-prestige D1 team for himself and took a tourney spot (away from some other human coach, in all likelihood) every season?  Um.  No.

GD's original developer used to play and try to win every game, regularly competing for national titles.  It was not a classy thing to do, and people were not pleased.  Seble is smart enough to remember how that went over and to understand that trying to be competitive in a game where he knows all of the math details would not be well-received.

I might be the biggest proponent of changing recruit generation here.  But ... I don't see how one can justify changing the generation process with all these other recruit related changes, as the best way for me to tell (and I think most of you to tell) if the playing field got leveled out or not is to leave the actual generation process alone.  Right?

I apologize for disagreeing with you when your innumerable posts make it clear your opinion is the only one that matters.  I will endeavor to never do so again.

sorry, its my fault. i cannot stand the lack of perspective that plagues this issue, its not just here. its pretty obvious from numerous comments seble has made publicly that there's a lot of our coaching experience he just does not relate to... i guess i can't understand how someone could put him having context over their own team, from any source but one of selfishness. i don't see how someone could prefer to be 50/120 in a game that sucks instead of 51/120 in a game that is good (if you are one of the 1/10 or 2/10 people in the 1-2 worlds seble would pick, should that be the case). i guess it doesn't compute and so i pin it on selfishness but maybe there's something i just don't get.
