I need to promote a C to be the vRHP platoon. Obviously, this guy will get the bulk of the catcher ABs. I have 2 candidates. <a style="color:black;" href="http://www.whatifsports.com/hbd/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=6527462" target="_blank">Dusty Workman</a>. He would fill the bill offensively very well, but he has a 32 PC. I'm not concerned that much with PC, but I've never had one so low at the ML level. Since he would be catching most of the time, will this be a big issue?

The other candidate is <a style="color:black;" href="http://www.whatifsports.com/hbd/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=6971626" target="_blank">Dan Gipson</a>. He looks like he would be adequate offensively, maybe a step below Workman, but his PC is 55 and improving. Not exactly a stellar PC, but certainly better than 32. He would be making the leap from AA to the ML.

So, which guy would you prefer?

PS-a 3rd alternative would be to resign my former C, 35 year old  <a style="color:black;" href="http://www.whatifsports.com/hbd/Pages/Popups/PlayerProfile.aspx?pid=4116618" target="_blank">Bing Boyd</a> to a 1 year $2M contract, so throw that into the mix

They're all terrible catchers.   32 seems awful low but he has the best arm.   If you're gonna punt C defensively, might as well take the best hitter and see how it plays out.   I'd get a good defensive C for late innings.

I'm with mike. I'd resign Bing Boyd, relegate Workman to DH and look for a catcher with 80+ PC and with arm stats at least over 70. I see catchers like your in my league and I start salivating. I set my 'base stealing' to 'very agressive' and before you know it, my top guys have turned a lead off walk into standing on second base.

Agree with Mike-- Workman, and it's not close.  Just try to win a lot of 10-9 games.

The problem, again agreeing with Mike, is that your catcher vs. LHP isn't good defensively, either; this would work better if your other C was a strong defensive replacement who could catch the late innings of every game you're leading.  In most of my worlds you can probably get a reasonable complementary catcher in Rule 5, so be on the lookout for that possibility.

Nobody mentioned here is a championship-quality solution. Look to upgrade by trade throughout the season.
