24 Neutral Site Non-conf Tourneys... Topic

Proposal:
Neutral site games played during non-conf, via 24 mini round robin tourneys with 4 teams each.
Some of these tourneys would require a team to qualify and be invited.
Others could just be signed up for.
Teams that get invited but aren't interested could just decline the invitation.

Get a small prestige boost for participating.
Get a bit higher prestige boost for winning.

Games played in the #2, #3 and #4 gameslots.
Ideally, these would be 8-team true bracketed tourneys, but that might be too hard to set-up for Seble.
If 4 teams, the tiebreaker to determine winner is point differential.

Only 1 team per conference for each mini tourney.
96 total slots for 4-team tourneys.
192 slots for 8-team bracketed tourneys if those are possible.

Big 6 Invitationals:
Great Alaska Shootout
Maui Classic
Wooden Legacy
NIT Tip-Off

Tourneys with three Big 6 slots and 1 wildcard each:
Paradise Jam
Battle for Atlantis
Las Vegas Invitational
Jimmy V

Tourneys with two Big 6 teams and 2 wildcards each:
Charleston Classic
Puerto Rico Tip-Off
Hall of Fame Tip-Off
Cancun Challenge

Open tourneys for any team interested:
Wounded Warrior 2k Tourney
Barclays Tourney
Cable Car Classic
Armed Forces Classic

Emerald Coast Classic
Lake Buena Vista Advocare Classic
Diamond Head Classic
South Padre Invitational

Battle in Seattle
Fleet In-Bank Classic <--- old defunct tourney was held in Providence, had major schools participate
Rainbow Classic
Coaches vs Cancer

Following up:

Teams "invited" would get an email during the preseason telling them they can participate in the Great Alaska Shootout, for example. They would then go to their non-conf schedule page and either accept or reject the invite. They would have to decide by a certain timeframe.

A team not invited to an invitational would put in a "tourney request" for any of the open tourneys. At a certain point (once the Invitationals are set), the engine would hopefully think you're worthy to slot you into your requested tourney.

You could request entry into multiple tourneys, and the engine would assign you accordingly.

Yeah I like the proposal. I think we should have programmed mini-tourney offers so we can Mirror reality. If you participate to one from the start, you get the same invitation every season. I'd like my D1 teams to get tourney non-con proposals.

This would also apply to Div-2 and Div-3.
Conference prestige and team performance would substitute for "Big 6" slots.
