I think I know the answer, but just wanted to check, to be sure.   Is it possible to reshirt a new recruit, that you have promised playing time to, for his freshman season?

It is possible in that the game will let you do it, but expect his WE to drop to 1

he will refuse it, WE will drop as mentioned and he will 100% transfer. You can still apply it, but it does no good (except for the new coach he transfers too, I suppose, but I suspect the WE plummet far offsets that)
