why can't we just keep the same system for recruiting players except make it year round so there is something to do during the season besides game plan and we don't have to spend 5 days glued to the game and neglecting our jobs.
Because that doesn't change anything at all. lol
That's my point exactly, I don't want a huge change I've just gotten the hang of this one. The only changes I want are 1. Make recruiting year round. 2. If you have future scouting on a recruit allow you to see their potential on their first page like he goes to your school ( cuz that would save me a lot of time). 3. An easier way to see how much a recruit likes you (like a percent locked in ncaa football 15 on Xbox). The last two changes would just make it less time consuming to recruit.

Could we use money or points left over from the past seasons to tr y and recruit transfers and guys leaving for the NBA to possibly stay? My NCAA 2010 basketball game had that ability where if you had left over recruiting points when you had a kid who may think about going pro that was boarder line that you could convince him to possibly stay. Same with transfers, and what if you added more player demands through out a season. Much like todays players with kids being unhappy with playing time a bit easier, have that possibly be part of their personality that they may leave if not feeling like they are getting enough time. I like these ideas, makes the game more than just a 6 day recruiting period with a few set line ups and possibly no changes all season.

I really like the idea of releasing players from their LOI commitments. But why would the player get the choice of accepting or rejecting? Because the point of that is if I move to another school and a Sim picked up a terrible player, I should be able to get rid of him no matter what. This would alleviate concerns about switching schools and not being able to start their rebuild until year 2.

It's like if I'm going to break up with my girlfriend, she can't just say "nah, we're still dating" even if I don't want her hanging around anymore.

Now, I do think the player should get the option to either stay committed to program or reopening their recruitment if the coach that recruited them leaves. But if the new coach doesn't want him, no way should a coach be stuck with them.
In real life, the school can always back out of a letter of intent, but I'm pretty sure a signed scholarship offer is a binding contract.  So the player has a right to stay for at least a year regardless of whether the new coach wants to cut him.  Normally when the school releases the player it's because the player wanted to leave, not because the new coach didn't want him.

Whether that makes the most sense for the game is TBD.

The difference between real life and this game is that coach is being paid to go there and take whatever he's handed and turn it into something. We are paying to build something, so we should be allowed to cut scholarships we did not want. Coaches also do cut players in real life to open up the scholarships for a perceived better recruit.

PLEASE. No huge changes, minor tweaks could be identified to deal with equaling the field between elite schools and other schools, but why? That is what you work for in this game; an elite school with major advantages, just like real life. Ohio State doesn't donate their revenue to other schools after a national title just to make it interesting. If you eliminate prestige and bonus money then you diverge from real life. Power conferences for pro sports are relied upon for their big time schools and big time games.

Phased recruiting is interesting, go for it, in a WIS timeframe, not something that requires hours per day for your site hits. Dump a day of Job Openings, good grief that is already at least a day too long. Also, if you eliminate bonus money for tourneys, then why would we want to get into the National Tourneys aside from personal pride?

Finally, dropdowns are key to D2 and D3 schools in building programs.
