First, divide your hitters into 3 categories.    C, corners, middle.   What you're looking for from fielders change so you need a baseline when compare their hitting ability.   For instance, I don't give a rat's *** about a catchers range or glove.   So I only want to compare those guys to similar players.  2B/SS/CF need far more range than the other positions so I want my high range players grouped together.

Second, divide your pitchers into 2 groups.   Many RP only have 2 pitches.   If your formula goes P1-P5, you're never going to want a RP on your staff.

Third, set minimums in certain categories before making comparisons.    I like my positions players to have at least 1 split over 55.   Pitchers need control over 40, splits over 50 and at least one pitch over 70.

Finally, don't be married to your formula.  Use it to get players in order and then decide who fits. 

I have to laugh at me for this.   I buried two players who will probably be alright because my formula crapped on them.

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Pedro Juarez and Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: D'Angelo Infante will get their first significant BL action after 8-9 seasons on my team.  

I re-evaluated the guys on my 40 at the end of last season, this is my team facing a decline, and re-discovered these two.  

But most of this still holds true.    I use 4 category groupings now because I've found I'll accept lower range at 2B.   And, while I still split pitchers into 2 groups, I have three rankings:  Starter, long relief, short relief.

I still use the third point as is. 

FWIW, the reason I re-evaluted my 40 was threefold:

1.  Imminent decline of the team.
2.  40 crowded with "emergency" players.
3.  WifS update with the "classify" option.    I put green dots by my guys picked 50 or below or given 10m IFA bonus.    These guys were green dots.

We must have different formulas.  My formula would have said:

Juarez-- Excellent 2B/3B against LHP, solid bench utility player against RHP.  Plays everyday against LHP and can play fulltime to cover injuries.  Well worth rostering and under the right circumstances I'd even arb him twice.

Infante-- Dave Magadan-lite guy with a .360-ish OBP but marginal power, speed and defense.  Don't think I'd roster him but if I happened to need both a RF and a leadoff hitter I'd take a look.  More valuable in a park that kills power but allows singles and doubles (OKC, SF, maybe KC).

I'll be interested to see what they do for you.

Juarez had the misfortune of being a 2B a couple of seasons after I acquired Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Vic Barajas.   I saw what you saw VL but he wasn't playing in front of Barajas. Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Alfredo Perry was my 3B for the last three seasons.   So PJ just sort of got left out of the mix.    At worst, he should have been sitting the BL bench to rest VB/AP.    Below BL average VR AND eye just left him out in the cold.   Had he been 70 in either, I'd have taken more notice.

Forget the formula, just learn what works and what doesn't by actually playing the game instead of it all up. It's more fun that way, too.

I'll determine how I play the game and what's fun for me.

Mixed bag of results there.

2,3,5 are sub .700 OPS but the lowest is .675.
1,4 are over .800

None of them were cutting it using my Master Formula.
