The biggest problem with SimBasketball is parity.
In open leagues, there's probably too much parity, and not enough variety. In theme leagues, the one team with Wilt or LeBron is often way too hard to beat.
So, this theme league is designed for parity, without sacrificing variety.
THE COIN SYSTEM
I. You have 5 "coins" to start. The better the player, the more "coins" that player will cost you. You can spend all of your coins on Wilt Chamberlain, and build the rest of your roster from non-exclusive players, or you can try to build a balanced roster, using your coins on second or third tier players.
b. so, you can go 5 coins + 0 coins, or 4+1, or 3+1+1, or 2+2+1, or 3+2, or 1+1+1+1+1, etc.
II. No draft. Just pick your team and put it in the league.
III. $50M cap? Completely open to suggestions.
IV. Open to suggestions on who should cost what number of coins. Ideally, the requirements for coin players will be at least one of the following characteristics: I) eFG%, II) defense, III) rebounding, IV), 3 pt shooting, and V) Ast%, with volume, steals, blocks, and FTA also being taken into consideration. (Once I publish an initial price catalog, I'm totally open to suggestions on who should cost at least one coin, or how much certain player should cost).
V. so it's sort of like an auction draft, but I think that would really deplete the number of options. Simpler this way. also, it mirrors the salary system already in place with the SIM, without being quite as boring as an open league tends to be.
