As some noted, what do you guys look for in a SF in D1? I was going with what I had, a guard, or a forward, not really pointing at key stats for that position. Do you recruit your SF differently?

If so :
how important are rebonding talent, shotblocking talent, low-post scoring, passing, ballhandling to you?

In my opinion

Guy Dunton
is pretty much the closest thing you can get to a perfect low D1 SF, obviously defense was sacrificed(63)

75/75 ath/spd 54 reb 96 lp and 76 bh 66 pas.

So he can rebound, score, and pass.  Defense is a bit weak

I have the defensive version of Dunton on my Knight team:

80 ath 70 spd 62 reb 75 def 46 sb 35 lp 57 bh 52 pas.

He won't reach his potential which is 84 ath 78 spd 73 reb 95 def 59 sb 55 lp 37 per 71 bh 66 pas

due to WE

You're going to  get a lot of "it depends" answer because, you know, it depends....at high d1 he's gonna have to do everything because the guy he is covering is going to be able to do everything......at lower d1 you are going to have to make a decision, you need to decide what role he is going to fill.....usually, I don't worry about rebounding at the 3 because my bigs are, hopefully, very good rebounders.....in most cases I try to make my SF a good defender AND somewhat of a scoring option (ath/lp or spd/per)....I would probably put bh/pass above block and rebounding in most cases

Like TJ said I think you have to know at low D1 you aren't getting the do it all SF the big schools get.  I look at the four traits Billy outlines in Offense, Defense, Rebounding, and guard skills.  From there I think you can aim for 2 hopefully 3.

Dunton is offense/reb/guard skills and Swatski is defense/reb/guard skills.

Your defense is super important as well....In a press and a 3-2 you are going to want a more "guard" like forward, rebounding be damned!.....in a 2-3 he's gotta be more posty (BLK is more important here)....and in man, well good luck, man at low D1 is hard to pull off :)

I've been searching for the perfect man to man SF. In La Salle, I recruited two the past two seasons. One is a defensive minded, lp scorer, the other one will be a passing, per guy. Both are slow to D1 standards. So how's speed influence a man to man team...

Anyways, you can't get the perfect one.

Speed is important in defending the 3 point shot, if you're playing a SF who is a perimeter based scorer you're be at a disadvantage.

TX Trenton. It sure helped me out. I need versatility.
