Question - 

The guy's signability is 'May sign if the price is right'. 

I'm offering him all that I can (I guess I didn't budget enough)...

Current offer is 3.14m bonus Minor League w/Invite.

Short of a fire sale on some big league talent for cash, how long do you have to wait it out? Is this a case where if I up the offer he'll sign?

Never up your offer unless he tells you to.  If he wants to sign, he'll let you know.

Bonus: if he tells you he won't sign (but doesn't ask for money) make him the exact same offer again. Sometimes they will accept. I nabbed a 'probably won't sign' guy last year in Riley like that.

Ah. OK. I'll rescind it and start over then. He's a compensation pick sandwiched between first and second round selection, so I kinda 'need' him to sign.

Also, if you get a refusal of an offer with a red X, and the "Negotiate" link goes away on the "Draft Results" page, be sure to keep the email with his refusal.  There's a link with the email that can bring you to the negotiation page.  You can then continue to negotiate.

I was able to sign a first rounder who refused my initial offer with the red X, and I was able to sign him by resubmitting the exact same offer.

I just read this after deleting an e-mail telling me thanks but no thanks.  Any other way of getting back to the negotiating table with him?

Not that I'm aware of.

Oh well, live and learn

I just had my guy in MG accept after I got the initial red X in negotiations. It went about 5 days w/o hearing from him but then he gladly signed. This guy too was a probably won't sign pick. I'll for sure be more aggressive with drafting  these guys in the future.
