Point of diminishing returns? Topic

What is the point of diminishing returns for offensive distribution percentage? I have 3 great scorers on my Rutgers at Newark team but I really want to get Poteat the ball as much as possible, 4 games into the season he's shooting 41.5% from 3 and 45 point from the field, averaging about 30 points per game I would love to keep feeding him but I don't want to overdue it, how far can I go distribution wise and 3 point tendency wise (right now he's at 0)?

Do not forget you need to be cognizant of the turnovers he has. Averaging 5.5 a game is very high, but in terms of shooting percentage you can keep on playing with it until you see a diminish in his play and the teams play. I would probably lower it a bit, as I have a guy right now (Jack Osowoski - Linfield) averaging 28 a game with good percentages and just under 3 turnovers a game, if I raised his distro the turnovers would probably outweigh the points.

Just my thoughts and others will probably have better answers.

There's a penalty on FG% if the guy shooting the ball has more than X % of the shots taken by the 5 guys on the floor......I think X equals 40 but I can't really remember,

is that a stated fact joe?  or an assumption based on observations?

seems reasonable but im not sure i have heard it explained that way.

Definitely remember there was something said about reducing player efficiency at a certain point to stop teams from playing bingball. Not sure I ever heard it phrased in terms of the percentage of shots taken by guys on the floor at a given point in time.

yes,  i agree with that rednu.  i do recall  an engine tweak or something in response to bingball.
i had kind of thought of it in terms of a players distro as a percentage of the whole team... but joes theory does actually make more sense

I thought I had the information in a ticket response but I can't find it.....I am like 90% sure I am right.

There is a penalty in some cases, but it's based on a particular player's FGAs in that game being at least half of the total FGAs of the 5 players currently in the game.

interesting that it is not based on distro but rather actual FGA in that particular game

50% of FGAs is what I have in my notes as well, as far as a penalty .. and that is 50% of shots for guys on the floor at the time.

So you can get away with higher if it's a guy who gets to the line a whole lot then ...
