If someone is still unsure on what to do in Tark, you could join us.

I know Temple and St-Joseph's are tough to land since they are slowly getting destroyed... (Owners just went to Big Six teams).

We have Charlotte and Richmond though, they are a good place to start at D1, if you qualify or a nice job from a low end D1 team.

Out of all the problems with job logic, I think the worst is what happens to strong Mid-Major programs after the coach leaves.  Nobody ever picks up these B+ range Mid-Majors, because more than likely the only coaches who qualify are already in a better position at a BCS program.  So they are left to rot for 4 seasons until the prestige drops down to a C (or lower).  I know it's beating a dead horse, but I wish these schools would be accessible to more coaches.

Tark A10 is a great group of fun and competitive coaches.

i completely agree. actually just made a post a couple days ago to the same effect, that decent mid major jobs should be more accessible. its like, in the mid major world, you can only move down, not up, and then your loyalty gets absolutely wrecked. so stupid. again, if only seble actually played the damn game, for real (sucking *** horribly at a couple random programs doesn't count, he is getting the experience of SIMAI, not that of a human coach), i think he'd get this. it seems so obvious to everyone not named seble...

I just checked seble's two conferences and saw that there has been no talk to or from him whatsoever, kinda dissapointed me, if I beat Seble I would give him a little jab, and if he responded we would know that he is at least checking his team in the game even if he isn't working on improving the game as is his job.

"... that decent mid major jobs should be more accessible ..."

Except that they cannot do that until they commence firings higher up.  If all they do is make mid-majors easier to get, then the gridlock that exists at the top simply spreads downward.  We need firings first, as far as I can tell.

1) Fix the longshot application so that people get the job at the last second, if nobody else (qualified) applied. It would at least help both mid-majors and Big Six teams. It takes too long to be able to move up from low to mid to big six. It's a rebuild everytime, don't forget. It takes 4 years at low (I experienced it at IUPUI and MSVU), then if you move to mid-major (count six years if you are in a competitive conference and four if you are alone). I think the job application should consider where you play and where you played too. Say you already burned the low D1 conference you were in, why can't you get the same job you had while rotting in last place in your new gig?

2) I see a lot of people drop down from Big Six gigs. They acknowledge themselves that they are struggling and want to start over and test some other stuff before getting back in. I am all for firing but give people a chance to get out of the basement. I am at Clemson, started at C... Third year.... And the rebuilt is not complete until I play the fourth year, which means, It takes time to get a basement team, in big six, out of the basement... All the programs around me are either A- or A+... Mostly. Or the other teams are a bit ahead. Making firing works logically, with the set up we have right now, is not that simple. I'd say when you have 10 seasons without PIT and NT, fire. 15 seasons without NT, and no real success in the PIT like a final four or more, FIRE.

3) So if you want to really get the thing more logical, you need to let teams like Clemson, get a stud from time to time because we promised a start, we promised minutes, we are the only team that will start the kid and make him THE PLAYER on our squad. I don't believe a top recruit would prefer to sit on the bench at Duke or get redshirting while he would be starting as a freshman at Clemson. Something needs to be made. Top players do need to have expectations. Why? They are thinking NBA. A freshman, a top player in the nation, needs to showcase his abilities. Why would he become the third PG on a top team and play 5 minutes... Then 12 as a Soph? No reasons.

4) Make all top 50 recruits recruitable from everywhere. That way, big six teams will battle.

5) Fix recruit generation.

I truly think it's what will make D1 more enjoyable. I don't mind the base prestige. It could come phase II.

Good post zorzi. I really hope that if/when they change (tweak) recruiting that promised starts and minutes carry more weight. You have a lot of middle of the road programs that could land a stud and maybe compete with the elites every now and then during the season which would make it more exciting for everyone involved. Additionally, if the coach tries to heat the system and not start the player, cripple the coach. Destroy his reputation and transfer the player to another school. Dropping from an a+ to a c+ would hopefully deter people from "getting cute" and trying to work the system.

another thing that's been mentioned that would help at D1 is adding a minimum amount of recruiting effort to sign recruits. this way the top programs can't land the best recruits with $2k just because everyone else is too intimidated to battle them (which then ensures they have a huge war chest to go after even more top recruits later in recruiting).
