Last night we held our Rule 5 draft in Cobbfather. I set my settings to draft 2 players. I wanted an RP and a LF. I had the #3 pick. The #1 pick went to the LF that I most wanted and the #2 team passed. I'm up next. I had my top RP listed as #1 on my board. The sim bypassed my top pick and took the #5 guy instead. I weighted RP a bit over every other position. I am very puzzled as to why the sim didn't take the guy I had listed as #1 who is a more pure RP than the #5 guy it took. So now I'm w/o my rule 5 selection since I have no use for the guy that was selected. The sim also failed to select my 2nd choice for LF as well and instead once again took a guy further down my list. Neither my top RP choice or my backup LF choice were drafted.

Has anyone else had any issues with this who can shed some light on this? Thanks.

I think I can actually rank the players in order that I would want, (1-3 or 1-7) however many players you may be interested in, and then cut off drafting anyone after 3 or 7 or however many players you ranked. Just be sure to check their salaries and adjust that setting accordingly.

Reading your post it sounds as if you ranked the positions rather than the actual player.

Did the RP you wanted have a salary > $327k? What was your "Max Salary" setting on your R5 settings page?

That's what I was thinking, the salary...

On the RP it was indeed the salary. I had the customary 327k cutoff and the RP was at 360k.

The position player seems to be a position thing. I wanted a LF and on the players card he is listed as LF but on the draft board he is listed as a CF. So a total bungling by me.
