Can a D3 knock off a D2 sim Topic

If a guy is a D3 player for me, but a D2 school hops on him, what are the chances that I can win the battle? I have 6 openings, so I have lots of $.

you can do it......

It's easier for a D3 to win a battle against a D2 team than it is for a D2 team to knock off a D1 team imo but it depends on the prestige

What would it take to win the battle if you are within 400 miles?

All the time. It just depends what his word on the street says.

Yeah just wait on word on the street to be honest.

It varies wildly. If the guy is a high priority, it could take 50+ HVs to win that battle. That would be bad. If FSS says he is tight, or a high priority, expect to spend 30+. You probably have that money, you just have to weigh whether it's worth it. If he's a low priority, it may take as few as 5 or 6 HVs to win the battle. However, you should be aware that even though he's showing up on your D3 list, if he's already considering a D2 school there's a very good chance you'll need to send a few scouting trips, calls, etc. before he will accept HVs.

If it's human then it's all about your money vs their money and your distance vs their distance.

If it's a sim school then yeah, wait for the WOTS to see how high a priority the kid is for the sim.

The essential.......compare open schollies, like said above WOTS, and distance.

at DIII I'm not sure I would consider trying it at 400 miles. I think the cutoff would be closer to 200-250 miles for me, maybe even less.

consider if the guy is worth taking a walkon. If you're a zone taking 2 walkons a is no problem and still workable with other sets.

Finally. And playing off my last comment, realize that doing this may leave you looking weak. Other schools may see this as an opportunity to go for one of your other recruits.

it is possible, though. I was able sign a recruit who was very tight with a DII school. I think I had 3 openings to the DII schools 2 and the player was very close to me.

****, according to the population numbers in each world, there isn't anyone around to notice if he looks weak or not.
