Re-offer Scholarship? Topic

Is it a bad idea to offer a recruit that's denied my 1st scholarship offer again later in the process if he still hasn't had anyone go after him or his still is not "considering other schools"? I have a recruit I really want but he denied my first scholarship offer. I want to go after him again since he is not considering any other schools, but I don't know if he'll just keep rejecting my offer.
NOTE: I am a D3 school and he is projected at the D2 level.

Thank you in advance.

Until you get a message from other overtures...home visit-campus-phone calls..that you are a back up option...yep a waste..but not in money if he rejects

A) Did he tell you that you are a backup option?

B) If he did tell you that you are a backup option, did you try and recruit him with scouting evals?

If he is a higher level and doesn't consider you a backup option, or does consider you a backup option but you haven't put in any legitimate effort (in the case of a player above your level = evals) along with the scholarship, then offering him the scholarship is pointless.

What about this recruiting question... I'm in D3 and am recruitng two D2 players. theres 24 hours left in the recruiting process and they still don't have anyone as a favorite (they currently sit in the "undecided" status). Here's my question... Will the D2 players even concider my offer while hey are currently still D2 prospects or is it until they fal to D3 that they will concider my offer? In a short version... Do recruits above your division even concider your offer from a lower division, or do they have to be pulled down to your level first?

You need to send a phone call first. If they give you message about being a fallback option then they can be pulled down. If they reject the phone or otherwise say no then you have no chance.

Yes, the easier option to me is sending a phone call to the coach. If he says something like "you are chasing something you will never get" and that is the end of it, you can't get that recruit. If the message continues to something like "now if his first options fall through you may have a chance" then you can pull him down. To do this, you have to send about 10 scouting visits and a scholly. But, you said there is about 24 hours left then every player who does have you as a backup has probably already dropped down to the D3 list, and is recruitable.

Yeah, moving forward if the coach tells you they aren't interested don't bother. If they say you're an option if things don't pan out then maybe wait. If you use 10 scouting trips and a DII guys decides they want him then you're out of luck usually. Pulling down is always a gamble, but you can get some great guys when it works out.
