I would say thats the biggest advantage to the midwest since our pizza is more like real pizza pie (with thick crust, flavored sauce, lots of cheese and multiple toppings) than that soggy thin cardboard crust with tomato paste and just pepperoni available in the NE :-)
next we should discuss BBQ and steak
no way, midwest pizza is straight garbage next to NY pizza - from a decent place, actual italian ownership or something, not some chain. when i lived in northern NJ, there were like 10 pizza places in town and the top 7 or so would all be better than the best pizza available where i live now or the other place i lived in the midwest. if you can count pittsburgh as the midwest that is. maybe that's a stretch. the food was so bad, the ethnic food, except indian, but the rest was just horrible - with a liberal use of "ethnic food" to allow for the awful chinese and pizza to be lumped in. the chinese food especially was just astonishingly bad. i have had NY style pizza where its garbage in a lot of places, like here where i live mostly its crap. now i get thicker crust pizza when i feel like spending a bit more for my favorite pizza in the area - because yeah, it can be pretty good. but i only get it that way because the NT pizza is made with cardboard, they can make decent thick crust but not thin. get some real pizza from a little italian run place in jersey or something though, man, can't beat it. so good. i feel like you have to be eating midwestern's interpretation of NYC pizza, not the real thing, to have that view of yours. soooooooo good!
also it amazes me how bad the mushrooms are they use on pizza here. canned mushrooms? i was against the death penalty until i tried that ****. gross.
