Scouting trips rant Topic

7 scouting trips on a guard and still no info on speed or perimeter! How many times do I need to be told over and over that he sucks at rebounding and shot blocking? Just seeing the same (irrelevant) attributes over and over. Sorry, had to vent--so annoying!

Yes it is and another simple fix that will never happen.....One would think you could choose 2-5 attributes to check on a scouting trip each time

But there's never been that post saying. Awesome, scouted a guard and got his perimeter, ball handling, and passing!

I just got one of those. Two blues, nailed them both.

Sure, it could be cool if you could pay more to get the exact attributes you're looking for, but I'd be happy with just not getting the same ones over and over. I'm okay with some variation and having to send a few trips to get some info. It just makes it all the worse that I'm scouting a guard and finding out that his red 1 shot blocking or red 1 rebounding isn't going to go up (heavens to betsy!) and that he isn't going to be much of a post scorer. Gee, thanks.

up to 10 scouting reports and still nothing new.

In my last recruiting session I sent 15 scouting trips on a pull down SG and didn't get his PER potential in any of them...

Simple fix: a scouting report never goes over an attribute that was previously scouted, unless they have all been reported to you. But instead of reporting on four attributes per scouting trip, it is reduced to 3. There are 12 attributes to report (ATH, SPD, REB, DEF, SB, LP, PER, BH, P, ST, DUR, FT). So if you invest four scouting trips, you will receive a scouting report on each attribute. If you are attempting a pulldown, then the reports will repeat after the fourth one.

I agree that in my short time in this game, I have been flustered by this also. Especially when you just want to know one specific stat. On the other hand, I just recruited a guy whose first scouting trip gave me that he was high-high in Ath, Sp, LP, and Per. Sometimes the probabilities fall just right.

Then again, how likely is it that any scout could accurately predict how much better a kid's going to be at these various skills? As frustrating as it is, I try to justify not being told a particular attribute by acknowledging how hard it is to actually predict how much better someone is really going to get.

#11 did the trick, just for the record. I get what you're saying, drsnell, but it's just so tough when your budget is limited, and you're just looking for a role player amongst the dregs post-signing. I spent $6000 just on scouting for a player i could have nabbed for 1 HV and a scholarship. oh well.

my proposal on this years ago was to keep the current scouting evaluation which reports on four random attributes. But also add a Complete Scouting evaluation which returns all 12 potentials (although they could easily drop the gpa in the evaluation as that doesn't tell you anything you can't gather by looking at the high school gpa). Maybe make the cost of this Complete trip around 6 times the cost of a single evaluation.
