I received a message from a player on 4/26 stating that they wanted 3-4 more minutes per game. I didn't change anything and I received another message on 5/4 stating:

"All I asked for was a little more playing time and I'm not seeing it - I let you know about my concerns and you don't do anything? Here's a concern for you - you may have an extra scholarship next season."

These message have been accompanied by a gradual WE drop. He is down 11 WE points so far. I have 3 more games before the CT starts. What are the chances this guy leaves?

It should be noted that I want him to leave because he is a SIM recruit that I inherited and I would love the extra scholarship money.

In my experience the chance he leaves is inversely proportional to how badly you want him to leave ...

Haha. Figures. I was hoping there were some tell tale signs that would give a decent indication.

I suggest setting him to "mopup" and taking him entirely off your depth chart. Don't let him get another minute. All the same, probably not going to leave.

Yeah, unless you had him set with guarantees he'll just have a dip in his WE and stay.

He is going to be a senior next season, so if you think about it from a different perspective. You could always just cut him and hope to land a reasonably priced guy. Worst case scenario you have walk-on.

I will probably end up cutting him and trying to pick up a decent freshman for cheap. It would be nice if he left though to give me some extra wiggle room with my recruiting budget.

Your worst case scenario is you don't sign a guy, but he'd be riding the bench anyways, so you're back to the same position.

I have a firm policy against cutting seniors. After his senior season, he'll leave and you get $3k. If you cut him and fill both open roster spots, then you won't get that $3k for 4 more seasons. On top which, you will have to stretch your budget to try to sign 2 for 1. The players you sign are likely to be marginally worse than if you didn't do that.

If you think about it over a 4 season period, you will actually be reducing your budget during that time! Why would you choose to do that? [Of course, this matters a LOT more at D1, than D3.]

You make a good point. Cutting him is probably not a smart move.
