3.0 Academically Ineligible Question Topic

I currently have a senior that was a non-qualifier as a freshman at my DII W. Florida team and on the recruiting page he is highlighted as a departing player. I'm assuming the ineligible system is the same and he will actually get to play for his Sr/5 season.

I'm curious as to how the new system will allow me to recruit. Will it give me option to sign four players and it is my responsibility to know that I actually only have 3 open scholarships for next season? What would happen if I signed 4 players and then he is allowed to return for a Sr/5 season? Interested to see how this is actually handled come recruiting season.

My guess is you just had an EE problem in D2. If he makes the GPA he'll be Sr/5, if not, then he leaves and you have an "extra" spot to recruit, but only in the second period.

OR

the system was changed and is flawed, and you'll get the extra resources up front, and if he stays you had an advantage, Making Ineligibles (if they do actually still fail the SATs at the same rate) super important in 3.0

I don't know that this was tested/seen in beta. I didn't see it that I recall

The "highlighting" of departing players is a new feature introduced in 3.0 which I reported as a bug during BETA but has not yet been fixed. The highlighting of players does *NOT* use the same method as the one used for allocating recruiting resources so you would not get those resources for any senior who returns for his 5th season (which would be an issue in Division 1 *IF* the player failed to get a minimum 2.8 GPA but I guess seble wants to treat that situation similar to a transfer so you would only get resources at the start of the 2nd period).

As for the OP, since he states he is a DII, he shouldn't be getting any resources for him as he will definitely return for his 5th season. You should be getting resources for only 3 openings and although you can get more than 3 players to consider you or to VH and offer them scholarships, only 3 will sign unless you cut someone when you are allowed to.
