"Primary Defense" & "Preference Defense" Topic

I'm scouting a recruit whose "Primary Defense" on his ratings page is different from his "prefered" defense on his preferences page. Anyone had experience with this? CS doesn't seem to think it's a misprint.

They mentioned it in the dev chat. its intentional that they may not match. doesnt make much sense to me but w/e.

I think it definitely makes sense. Completely plausible. Just because a player knows and understands the system they ran in high school really well, it doesn't mean that's the same system they want to play in for their college team. Say there's a guard who knows he's a good 3-point shooter, but his high school coach always wants to keep everything close to the basket and use their post players, does that guard necessarily still want to play in that kind of system in college?

Yeah i get that. but when you have a juco or transfer where its important for him to already know your O/D it sucks when he prefers another O/D than yours which makes him harder to recruit.

Well, yeeeaaah.... It would certainly be *easier* for us.

But I don't think it's unrealistic at all for a recruit to know one system but want to play in a different system. :)

You don't get negative credit for running a different set, they don't go to bad or very bad. It just might be someone else gets an advantage, which is probably pretty small.

Nope, def not unrealistic. But for gameplay purposes, if I'm trying to get a Juco who knows my O/D, it'd be nice if they also preferred those types too. Otherwise it makes them even less appealing (go for a guy with good preferences with bad matchups or vice versa).

Not that it's a huge deal, really. Not even in the top 10 issues. Not even my biggest beef with preferences in general actually.
