Why recruiting D1 players at D3 isn't a big deal? Topic

This is my current class at NYU.

The +'s mean he is green in that skill.

One of those players was a D1 ranked recruit, two were D2's player and the 4th is a D3 guy. Can you tell? Is there a significant difference between them?

Maybe guys are pulling in players a lot better than I am but honestly, that was happening before as well.

You can find some diamonds in the rough when scouting lower divisions, that's true. That's one of the things I like about the new scouting system. Those that really put forth the effort can find those guys who are green in the right places and land a guy who will be a quality starter by Jr/Sr year. Likewise, I think a lot of coaches focus too much on the designation of D1 players. Just because a guy is designated as such doesn't mean he really is- which is why I really don't see a problem with lower division teams getting "D1" players. And to an extent that carries over to top 100 players and such. Those desinations are far from accurate in many cases.

Why are you going for D1 designated players then? theyre harder to get since you cant sign until last 24 hours. if they arent better then why bother taking that risk?

For me, I signed my core group and used my remaining resources to scout and recruit D1 players that I liked more than the remaining options.
