Preference *Signing Early* Topic

If there is nobody on a player, SIMS or otherwise, can a lower division still go after an upper division player if his signing preference is signing early.

Or does "early" mean he will sign with at least a SIM by first period recruiting?

If you're a D2 program and you get on a D1 player (or D3 on D2) with early preference, you'll hold at moderate but the player won't sign with anyone. The first cycle of Session 2, he'll sign with you if you're still the only guy on him.

Even if there are others on the recruit and he's "early" -- if you do enough with your recruiting to keep them at moderate or lower, the recruit will still sign with nobody until session 2.

Thank you.

So D3 cannot possibly sign an "early" D1, for all intents and purposes?

D3 can sign any player projected to go D1 if they put enough effort into him and no one else does so.

But not until the second recruiting period.

That's my understanding at least.

Correct. You can sign someone who wants to sign early .. IF you put enough effort into them to keep anyone from getting to High or Very High (which is required to sign a player).

But, that would mean no one wants him, or they don't want him enough in any event.

But, it is very easy for someone in that division to knock the lower division guy off during the first session. All you have to do is get to High or Very High.

D2 can only sign D1 targets in Period 2.
D3 can only sign D2 targets in Period 2.
D3 can only sign D1 targets in the last 24 hours of Period 2.

Also, for targets that are only 1 division up:
If the target has an "Early" or "End of Period 1" preference, and you have put a ton of resources into the player in Period 1, then he may sign on the first night of Period 2... (though he'll only show as Moderate throughout Period 1 and during Intermission, if you've done enough work towards him, you'll be immediately at Very High to start Period 2).
