What constitutes a perimeter offense? Topic

Apparently my team has "bad" preference on perimeter offense. I think we are quite guard friendly, and at worst, neutral in that regard. Computer seems to think differently. Thoughts? (This season is pretty typical for my offense usage for guards).

My question is the same. How can I make my team a perimeter offense? Not just for recruiting, but to take more shots from outside.

I think somewhere around 33% of total shots being 3FGA gets you to a perimeter offense.

So what is neutral, since I am 26%?
11/9/2016 8:23 PM
<25% Very Bad
25-30% Bad
31-35% neutral
36-40% Good
>40% Very Good

% of total FGA that are 3s

K thanks.

I think this preference stinks. It needs to take into account efficiency not just attempts.

They are *NOT* polar opposites. I've tracked some of the preferences watching them after games are played and I can tell you that the Paint preference has 20% boundary for VG/G on 3s FGA/Total FGA.

You may be right that they aren't opposite. I haven't noticed them not being opposite in my experience.

But what do you mean by 20% boundary? I don't understand.

Thanks Benis. And yes, I agree with your later post that this is not great.

I noticed that I was getting a "Very Good" on a "Paint Offense" preference for a recruit which I calculated having a 20.0% 3 FGA/Total FGA ratio. Next game, I took more 3s and noticed that my preference on my watch list was now reporting on a "Good" preference. I recalculated my ratio and it was now 20.1% (thus I can assume the VG to Good boundary was 20%.

20.0% or less = Very Good for Paint preference
20.1% to ? = Good for Paint preference

Also I was tracking the "Perimeter Offense" preference during BETA and noticed that even at 42.1%, I was still only scoring as "Good".

Yeah maybe they're not totally opposite. I remember I was just over 40% for 3s in Beta one time and VG. But so many things changed in Beta and I'm not sure what season it was so I don't know what it is now.

Btw, looking at Allen right now, I have preferences for 197 players and here's what it says for play style
Fast Tempo 2%
No Preference 40%
Paint Offense 18%
Perimeter Offense 17%
Strong Defense 24%

Looks like not much love for the Fast Tempo.
