Hey lakevin,
During the discussion on EE's, which is a process that i think needs to be changed, i commented on your excellent recruiting strategy.
You had 2 normal openings, and one probable EE.
You signed 2 guys Top 100 in Period 1, but also in Period 1 you were able to move on the Gannon recruit from Desert Hot Springs.out in the Mojave.
Once your EE announced, Robinson, you were set up to sign Gannon, which you did soon after Period 2 opened.
My strategy was to sit there in the 2nd spot in the hope that Robinson would stay an extra season (though i quickly dropped off the list when others showed up).
Anyway, great job under tough circumstances.

this example is a good one - how one can in some circs handle EE reasonably well with planning

such an approach seems doomed if one changes the math - like one or two openings and 3 or 4 EEs - especially if not clear which positions will be EEs

in the transition to 3.0, this is a problem

not clear whether it will be a problem in the long term (and not clear that I'll be interested in the long term)

But what I would say is that in the first period I took one guy who is flawed (academically ineligible and certain EE -- so maybe 1 or 2 years of PT for 2-3 years of roster space) and another guy who was #80 overall and had no business being on my team. I had to try to find guys where I could box out because I was expecting two EEs and didn't want to leave three spots open. And the UCLA dynasty has been dramatically weakened. And when I have 2-3 EEs next year (with only 1 SR) it will be brutal.
