I couldn't find a previous thread on this, but how often are DII players drafted?

I know its likely rare, but do some of the best (or once in a coaching career) DII players stand a chance? Has anyone had experience with this. thanks :)

I've seen it once, but I rarely look.

It happened back in the early, early days of the game from what I understand, but I've been here since '09 I think and I don't recall it ever happening since I showed up in the game, or if it did I certainly don't recall a fuss being made about it here in the forums.

I did some research:
In season 17 of Naismith there was a D3 drafted 6th overall.
In 2009 a DII junior declared for the draft, went 23rd overall.
And I'm seeing some forum posts from 2011 with a few other DII players who went mid draft.

I wonder if things will change in 3.0? I know in Smith there will be two players in DII who should near 875 overall before they are done, both are sophomores right now. I know overall isn't everything, but the ratings wont hurt.

It is possible. I believe it happened in Beta.

I had a guy in DII named Richard Devries who was in the 70s on the big-board, I know. His ratings were about:
Ath: 90
SP: 90
Reb: 30
De: 100
Sb: 30
Lp: 20
Pe: 90
BH: 99
Pa: 85
St: ??
Du: ??

I shoveled him the ball in the second to last beta season and he put up huge stats and was conference player of the year and defensive player of the year. I don't remember national awards.

I think it could happen in 3.0. Since the top 100 are shown to all it would likely be a developmental prospect with high WE or an international player. That also has been known to happen in the real world.

I have had one d2 player drafted in Rupp s32 I think it's fair to say it happens very infrequently.

I've only been here since 2012, so it has been at least "somewhat" more recent. I do recall the player was literally the last pick in the draft.

I had a guy drafted from my St. Leo team many many seasons ago. It was the only time it's happened to me and I've played way too many DII seasons of this game
