My dad just started Topic

After weeks coaxing, my dad just signed up in Wooden.

He said, "This look pretty neat. Can I eventually get to DI?"
I said, "Sure, if you want to."
He said, "Nice. Is recruiting like real life recruiting?"
I said, "Well..."

I was the opposite a few years ago. I got my son a free five pack so we could compete against each other. He was doing well, but quit during season three and I am using his user name to this day (mine was tem316). Yeah he liked his girl friend, and she became his wife, and he lost interest. At least I have grand children to show for his lack of interest in HD.

I would actually think this type of game would be better suited for a more mature crowd. At least 30 or over. The younger generation needs more constant stimulation when it comes to gaming.

When my 14 year old sees me doing this, he says "How can you just stare at numbers the entire time?"

He doesn't know you get lost in those numbers. Lost in a good way. : )

Yeah perhaps, I can definitely see that.

When I was a teenager I used to always play Madden and NCAA Football franchise modes with my friends. We never played any of the games, we just did the roster management portion. That's a big reason why I think I like HD so much.

Not necessarily. I joined WIS when I was 15 with my dad and got hooked on GD, and later even moreso on HBD.

Ouch. That's super nerdy. You didn't even have the energy to use the toggle stick. All you could manage was a button push.

Yeah we would have burned too many calories celebrating big plays and touchdowns.

Instead it was "oooh look at this passing rating. oh my"

This is exactly how I was with Madden/NCAA. It's a lot more difficult to do that now in madden and have it still be fun.

I had a couple friends I used to do this with as well. I actually just got in one with about 4 or 5 others for the NCAA football 14. Can't stand what Madden is now, so I'd rather just go with what was good.

He has a pretty obsessive personality when it comes to things like this. I got him into fantasy football about four years ago. He had ten teams this past season. He loves building a roster.

I can see him sitting at the kitchen table with coffee and his iPad, going over the previous game's play-by-play.
