Recruiting and IQ question: primary vs preferred Topic

I've noticed that some recruits differ between the primary offense or defense they played in high school versus the preferred offense or defense listed in their preferences. I guess it makes sense that someone might prefer a change in style. But my question is how this affects their IQ coming in. Is there still an IQ benefit to having played your system in high school even if they don't seem to prefer it going forward? And on the flip side, do you get an IQ bump if a recruit prefers your system even if they haven't played it?

Many thanks, can't seem to find this discussed anywhere.

Pretty sure this is how it works...

The primary offense/defense will have a non-F IQ in it when the player appears on the roster.

The "preferred" offense/defense will be the one that gives the preference in recruiting, but will start at an F grade (possibly a bit higher if the recruit is a transfer or a JUCO player)

I believe this is true but don't have proof to back it up. May have to check with this round of recruiting.

I can confirm the primary O/D will not be an F. No idea about preferred.

As a follow-up to this, I don't think there's any "cue" any more to know exactly HOW high the primary O/D grade will be like your assistant coach used to give you with his comments in the scouting visit reports he used to send back to you, not that I ever paid a lot of attention to those, but it was nice to know that a certain player would be coming in at a C/C- level already in the press or something.
