Here's another stupid newb question:

In my limited experience at D2 and D3, the bigs (centers and forwards) that I have had to choose from have been really terrible. Is that something I just have to deal with? Do I have to raid D1 recruits to get anybody good?

I actually think good bigs are easier to find than good guards. What are you looking for in a good big?

ATH, DEF, and P. I also want them to be at least 6'8". I inherited a 6'1" PF. I am having a hard time finding any of these ratings over 30. Am I asking for too much?

Well, a couple things: height is just window dressing. If the 6'1" PF can rebound, he might be a serviceable big. Second, you can get better players in 3.0, so "raiding" D1 is a pretty good idea. If you look hard enough, you can find recruits who fall through the cracks.

Most bigs aren't great passers. When I recruits PFs and Cs, I look primarily for ATH, DEF, and REB. If you can get someone who also has decent speed, great, but it's not as important, at least to me, as those other three attributes. You can also settle for lower LP, provided it's green; LP and PER have the highest potential for HUGE growth, and it's easier to get a defender and make him a scorer than the other way around.

I have two pretty good bigs on my D1 Navy team right now. Each has ATH in the 70s, DEF above 80, and REB above 70. They draw a ton of fouls because of their ATH advantage.

And with your prestige, D1 recruits are definitely available. Try and look for a fatal flaw. By that, I mean something that would scare D1 coaches away. Something like a lower WE. Or low speed. Something that makes the recruit an issue on a D1 roster but not yours.

Height isn't window dressing, It has been said numerous times that a big 6'10" with 70 ATH, 70 REB, 70 SB, 70 DEF will be a better re bounder / Shot blocker than a guy with the same ratings that is shorter.

Height is factored into ratings, it doesn't effect them in game play.

There just aren't many 6'2" guys with 70 rebound and block.

I can't find the posts... I believe they may be on the old forums though and forever lost. But I know for a fact it was more than a window dresser because we thought forever that it was until Seble said otherwise...
