Estimated redshirt recruiting impact Topic

Any estimates on the negative impact of informing of a redshirt? I informed a player after on 30 attention points and now after 3 days still do not register on his considering list. When do others typically inform of a redshirt, after a home visit?

for me, thats too early to inform of redshirt

first question to answer - do I want this guy ONLY if he takes the redshirt or do you want him and hope for redshirt?

I generally want to build up effort first - because the redshirt inform is a negative effort

how bad is it? in my experience it depends. If the player is at a level that he is thrilled to hear from you, the negative is small - say if my Maryland team talks to a no star player.....but if the player is a reach, seems like it is much more of a negative

what I do is build up effort, then inform - I cant say how much in 3.0 cause dont have enough data, In 2.0, I would do at least a few home visits first

if you want to get back in the game with that guy, consider taking off the redshirt

Thanks... what is odd is that he is considering no others. So I had been leaving the redshirt on thinking it would open up. But given my progress on offering a scholarship has held at 0 over several cycles tells me it was too early. Lesson learned.

A related question: if a player's preference is "Wants to Play", then is it correct to assume that informing him of a redshirt will have a very big negative impact that will be very expensive if not impossible to overcome?

Ningles - are you continuing to use the 30 AP? If not, you will not get on the considering list until you offer AP again. The 30 AP just gave you that much recruiting credit, so if the redshirt wiped that out, you need to add more credit.

Personally, I do not inform of a redshirt. If I want to redshirt someone, I try at the beginning of the season. Sometimes they will take it without losing WE. If they lose a lot of WE, I just play them. Informing of the redshirt can kill you with a recruit if he does not want one.

tecwrg - I believe that this would be the case, but I am not sure.

I have done this. It's dropped me to 0% for other options.
