Choosing the right offense Topic

I am wanting to focus my offense around a scoring big man. Which offense suits a true scoring big man the best?

Triangle.

You should just pick one offense and defense to run, you can't switch around from year to year, because you will constantly have a low IQ in those sets. IQ is important in this game.

So basically, don't look at your set of players each season to decide what you want to run, decide what you want to run and recruit for those sets.

Incase that's helpful.

Triangle is what I'm running. Thanks for the input.

I can look at your team and it seems completely balanced.

Does any one have more details on WHY the Triangle is good for a dominate Big Man?

I typically have dominant big men on my team and I don't use triangle.

Well in HD guards are much more effective just the way the game works, a similarly talented guard in any system is generally going to perform better than a similarly skilled big men.

However if you were planning on running a big man offense the triangle is the best to use.

The triangle if you don't know is also called the superstar offense(at least thats what I call it). However what it also does if you do have that superstar player and good passing it creates space and allows guys with good lp/per but not good ath/spd to be effective(ala Steve Kerr) so that 30 ath 60 spd 90+ per guy well generally not be a great player for (an elite team) but in the triangle not only could he be your top scorer(you wont win a NC with him as your top scorer) but he will be extremely effective as a secondary scorer. ->Triangle requires more lp/per than it does ath/spd (think opposite of fastbreak which requires more ath/spd than it does lp/per)

Now there is 3 main downsides of the triangle:
1. if you focus on ath/spd/def and don't get scorers your offense isn't going to be that great. IE a 80+ ath guy with low bh/pas while he can score in the fb and be a decent flex/motion player he will be the least efficient in the triangle. So if you ever see a team with 60+ ath/def in D3 and they have no 80+ lp/per guys and they wonder why they never make deep runs is because they are running the worst offensive system.
2. While it allows you to focus on a few scorers with heavy distro, it does set you up to be shut down against man or zone teams who can double your top distro guys so if you have 2 guys taking 50+ % of your shots and a good man team double both of them you might be in for a rough night.
3. Since it requires so much lp/per at lower divisions it can be tough to consistently recruit and have players capable of taking on the role of lead scorer(personally I view triangle as a D1 offense since it is much easier to recruit that offense required) and also the worst D3 offense just because of the recruiting task of brining in the lp/per required to run the offense.

What about the other offenses? Well Flex is a pure guard focused offense(unless you have "stretch" big men which are rare and basically unicorns at D3) Motion is fine for big men I generally run motion and have some good scorer bigs, but at its best the motion is not focused on 1 guy it utilized high passing to make anyone a threat and the scoring load is spread evenely(however it is possible to heavily focus the motion offense as with all offenses, the triangle is just the best for high distro on a few players) and the fastbreak is basically super uptempo motion offense that firstly focuses on ath/spd advantages over the opponent.

So as a ramble and try to figure out why I was saying what I was saying.

TLDR: Triangle focuses on few high distro scorers that needs high(80+) lp/per players and HD prefers guards and the other 3 offenses are better suited for elite guards than elite big men.

I think I answered that hopefully?
