Margin of victory in 3.0 Topic

Does it affect SOS or RPI? I found a thread from '13 but, obviously, it may not apply.

The reason is I'm a huge favorite tonight and I was going to start freshmen at PF/C. But, if that's going to hurt because I might win by 15 instead of 30, maybe not.

Margin of victory has an impact on the projection report.

Ive always had a feeling it does affect RPI, I feel like with my GW team last season that I dropped out of the top 25 at one point in the season due to me not beating a horrible team by the 54 point spread.

Just a feeling though, Im sure its just my imagination

I dropped from 23 to "also receiving votes" as a 35 point fave(won by 31 starting a FR) but I figured that just came from scheduling someone bad enough to be a 35 fave. 44 tonight(scheduling is not a strength for me) so figured I'd start 2 tonight. Just didn't want to drop from pseudo 26 to 30.

Margin of victory does not affect RPI. That is just based on your record and the record of your opponents.

It does affect the top 25 rankings and the projection report. This makes sense to me because advanced metrics like kenpom use margin of victory as a factor.

RPI is 25% your win percentage, 50% opponents win percentage, 25% opponents opponents win percentage. However win margin does affect Projection Report. That being said, I think I heard from someone the Projectoon Report caps margin at 20. I always keep the play backups if game out of reach on.

From what I remember the margin of victory that goes into the projection report and ratings was modified to be game pace adjusted.
Meaning a final score of 40-20 has the same effect as a final score of 100-50.
