So I played this game like 10 years ago when I was in middle school, never bothering to get the grasp of the game so I lost a lot. Now I am returning and I would really like to get a solid understanding and learn the in's and outs of this game.

I just really want to know how many loses I will be in for this season with the new team I jumped into. I don't want to be discouraged and would like to rebuild this team but I am feeling like I shouldn't expect much success this season. Should I attempt to cut everyone on this roster and start completely over? SIM controlled teams are more horrible than I imagined.

I won 7 my first season(I also last played in 2006) in a full conference. I won 14 my first season in D2(2 humans in conference).

It really depends on the competition and the team you got. Both of my teams were terrible.

Non-con just ended in my 4th season with that 7 win team. 9-1 and ranked 22nd.

Yes, no question. You won't be able to cut the whole roster, but I would cut as many freshman and sophomores as possible,

I had a couple of useful players who are now seniors.

Do you guys recommend conferences with other users? I started with a conference completely SIM controlled thinking it would be easier, but I see there is a "Conference Chat" function that could make talking to other people a lot more enjoyable if other users are helpful and don't want to just run over me every single year haha.

A lot of it depends on what your goals are. If you do your homework and put some time into the game, then I don't see why you can't be successful against other human coaches. My recommendation would be to stay about 4 seasons in the SIM controlled conference, which will give you time to learn the game. And then possibly after that time period, move up to D-2 with other human coaches. For me personally, I always do what's best for my team when it comes to joining other conferences.

I enjoy my full conference but we're from the same worlds in HBD. SIM conferences are easier. With my D2 team, 1st season, the 2 users have been helpful.

One other thing. You're not penalized for cutting SIMAI recruits. If you have some useful ones, hang onto them while you get your feet wet. If you recruit a turd and want to cut him, it's not the same as cutting a SIM guy.

I would scroll the forums as best as you can. I suggest following my blog specifically the how to tutorial series. I am actually doing a video series as well that might interest you.

Check it out here!

You're going to be in for a rough year because the defensive rating for your guards is abysmal (3 single-digits and a 12) and this is very much a guard-oriented game. You're also light on athleticism and have only two rebounders to speak of.

I won't throw a number out because I didn't go team-by-team through the schedule, but I certainly wouldn't expect many W's throughout the year. Clean house when recruiting opens and cut a lot of the low defense players if they are Fr/Soph. Don't be afraid to sign players with only 1-2 years eligibility just as temporary upgrade sorts of things if it helps balance things out and upgrades on what you have.

Just fyi there is a 6 player per class limit, so if you cut down to 3 SIM players you'll only be able to recruit 6 freshmen. Others would have to be upperclassmen.

And welcome back. Use the forums, learn the game and enjoy. It really can be addicting and a lot of fun.

Well it is good that I have the option to rescind scholarships, but currently I only have ONE open position which means that I have a very minimal recruiting budget. If I cut players mid-season will I be compensated for the addition spots that are made available??

You get more resources when you rescind before recruiting session 2.
