clueless against 3-2 zone Topic

can anyone share core concepts of offense against a 3-2 vs 2-3 zone?

I think 3.0 will bring more zone teams and I have never developed a solid concept for game planning against zone - got basic ideas willing to share?

2-3 hard to attack Inside.
3-2 perimeter based defense

2-3 is vulnerable against the 3pts...
3-2 can be exploited inside

But it dépends on the defenders the team has.

It really does depend on the defenders. Assuming average defense, I tend to balance my scoring between two starters(inside/outside) and a sub against a 3-2. Against the 2-3(average D), I'll just play to my strengths. .If the C is weak(and he shouldn't be in a 2-3 but some people don't know it plays as a 2-2-1), I'll pound it inside.

When playing against a zone team, the SF and to a lesser extent, the PF, are key.

If you have a PER based SF, he will tear up a 2-3. I will often start my backup SG at the 3 against the 2-3 and jack his distro up at a +2. Also, the PF is covered by the average of the SF/PF so if they have a low block SF in the game, I tend to put my better post scorer at PF to attack this.

Against the 3-2, I like to play a SF with high LP.

In general, since ratings are averaged, elite scorers do better against the zone since it's rare teams have 2 (or 3) elite defenders.

Similar to TJ, but I'd add that against the 3-2, I try to load up on rebounding, even at SF. That's usually going to be the advantage your opponent has to abdicate.
