4 Guards and 1 Center Offense Topic

I was SM with Benis the other day and was curious to get everyone's opinion on this topic. Do you believe it's possible to be successful starting 4 guards and one center? Actually compete with coaches running "traditional" offenses.

Obviously you will get out rebounded, but if you could recruit players with great PER and a center with great REB you might could make it work. Get more possessions and and take more 3's than the other team and live or die by the 3.

Thoughts?

People always talk about this but I have yet to see a successful version. I tried and failed for a couple reasons.

I think you almost have to go press but can get away with FLEX or FASTBREAK.

Flex gives you a better 3FGA% and requires less STAMINA.
Fastbreak gives you more total shots and requires less "basketball skills" so you can rely on ATH/SPD more.

One of the things that killed me was the opposing teams PF. I started a guy with like 80 ATH and DEF but he got killed (like 60% FG%). I suspect it was his low block score.

there exist from time to time guards with skillz closer to SF and now and then PF - if you find the right guys, I think this could be done. But that would be hard - harder in 3.0 because of discovery constraints

I certainly don't recommend a 4 guard offense in this game, although it may work in real college basketball. Any team that tries to play a 4 guard offense will simply get destroyed on the boards. A 3 guard offense will work fine.

Rebounding is really important. You need guard scoring.

If you have one guard with high REB it can be done. Otherwise, you get destroyed on the boards at a fairly extreme level.
