So I took a poor defensive team and essentially overhauled the team(7 recruits). We run M2M/FB. My dilemma is my best scorer is total crap on D but his back-up has a C- IQ. Does it make much difference who starts?
Yr. Pos. A SPD REB DE BLK LP PE BH P WE ST DU FT TOT
Sr. SG 48 66 3 28 16 59 82 54 73 77 91 61 B- 658
Fr. SG 58 53 18 59 3 24 49 40 33 63 71 67 B- 538

I figure the Sr would get plenty of minutes off the bench as the Fr is 71 stamina. And the Fr would improve faster with the starts.

And, of course, the Sr would be running against back-up defenses a lot.

Here's the thing, the FR is better than the SR. but still bad. I don't think he is going to shut anyone down. In a vacuum, you are better off playing the SR.

The FR is still improving. But, yeah, I undershot with my first D2 recruiting. Oddly enough though, he was one of the three(7 total) that had D1 teams trying to sign him.

Start the SR and if his matchup has >10% distro, always doubleteam

Does the frosh have good potentials? If so, I'd start him to get the WE boost.

Just curious, why not start Allison at the 2? I know his D is only 47 but he's faster and more athletic than either of the SG's on your roster.

My other PG has a D of 24. When I took over, I had two players with D over 40. Everyone else is/was in the 20s.

My opinion doesn't mean a whole lot, but I'd probably still start Stutzman at 1.
5/5/2017 12:05 PM
That's reasonable. I could start Stutzman and Jordan but then my backcourt is 24/28 D. Stutzman off the bench is my #4 scorer. Jordan is #1 but I'm thinking both off the bench against 2nd team might be more beneficial. That way the better D is against their 1s and the better O is against the 2s.

I would start the freshman between those two. The freshman can improve and it will help in the long run.

. A player with 28 DEF should never start, with his PER, he could be a shooting specialist off the bench and still be the top scorer on your team. .

Pretty much this. It's usually what I do. Helps boost guys fast. I just had a FR gain 110 prior to the NT.
