Any reason why someone would start their c at pf and their pf at c

I've done it in specific games for better offensive match-ups against a M2M defense.

Positions mean nothing essentially.

Listed position, I agree.

Also, when running a 2-3 zone, you're actually running a 2-2-1, with the 1 being the C. If he's very weak defensively, and the PF is strong, that's another reason to swap them.

I'll be honest many people are too lazy to change the listed position of their players. I try to make it as hard and boring to game plan as possible, so I put everyone at PG or C but 3 people.

Although anyone except a complete noob will just look at your previous game lineup anyway to see who plays where.

But then you have to search for which positions the backups are.

You can pretty much figure out the opponents depth chart by going through the first half PBP of the previous game and look at the substitution patterns.

Though if you're going up against an experienced and successful coach, he may tweak his lineup and depth chart on a game by game basis, so you may want to look at more than one recent game.
